Export Formats: CSV, Excel & PDF
GigBooks offers three export formats, each designed for a different use case.
CSV Export
Best for: Importing into accounting software (QuickBooks, FreshBooks, Wave, Xero)
Contains one row per transaction with columns:
- Date, Description, Amount, Category, CRA Line, Notes
Simple and universal. Works with any spreadsheet or accounting tool.
Excel Export
Best for: Sharing with your accountant, detailed tax preparation
A multi-tab workbook (.xlsx) with five sheets:
- All Transactions — every transaction, color-coded by type
- Category Summary — totals per category with section subtotals
- T2125 Business Expenses — maps directly to the CRA form
- Income Summary — revenue breakdown with HST tracking
- Items for Review — transactions flagged for accountant attention
PDF Export
Best for: Professional presentation, printing, archiving
Includes:
- Cover page with business name, fiscal year, and summary totals
- Business expense summary table with CRA line numbers
- Detailed transaction listing
- Income summary with HST collected
- Items requiring accountant review
- Notes on partial-deductibility (meals at 50%, vehicle at business-use %)
