Exporting Reports for Your Accountant
GigBooks generates professional reports your accountant can use directly for tax filing.
Export formats
Excel (recommended)
A multi-tab workbook with:
- All Transactions — color-coded by section (business, personal, account)
- Category Summary — counts and totals per category with section subtotals
- T2125 Business Expenses — business expenses only with CRA line numbers
- Income Summary — income by source with HST collected
- Items for Review — flagged transactions needing accountant input
CSV
A flat file with: Date, Description, Amount, Category, CRA Line, Notes. Good for importing into accounting software.
A professional report with cover page, summary tables, and detailed listings. Includes the tax disclaimer required by CRA.
Email to accountant (Max plan)
On the Max plan, you can email the Excel and PDF directly to your accountant. Enter their email in Business Settings → Accountant Information.
The tax disclaimer
Every export includes: "This report is for organizational purposes only. Consult a qualified tax professional before filing." This is required — GigBooks is a categorization tool, not tax advice.
Tips
- Export after reviewing all flagged transactions for the most accurate report
- The Excel format is most useful for accountants — it maps directly to the T2125 form
- Exports are generated in your browser — your data never passes through our servers
